southern trails green beans
When I was a child my mom worked at a restaurant called Southern Trails. I would wait up for her to come home with some of their leftover Green Beans. We have these every holiday. I think they are even better the next day.

Ingredients
- 8 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 large onion
- 3 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
- 1 pinch salt
- 8 tablespoons flour
- 4 cups water to cover
- 6 cans green beans
- 6 ounces ham or bacon
- 3 - chicken bouillon cubes
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- - pepper to taste
How To Make southern trails green beans

Step 1Place a Dutch oven over medium high heat, add butter and melt.

Step 2When the butter is melted add the onions and parsley and with a large pinch of salt.

Step 3Cook, stirring occasionally until the onions are tender and translucent, 5 to 8 minutes.

Step 4Next whisk in the flour, being sure to coat the onions. Cook for about 30 seconds then whisk in the water.

Step 5Add green beans, ham, chicken bouillon cubes, garlic salt and pepper to taste.

Step 6Simmer uncovered for 3 – 4 hours till the green beans are tender and the gravy is thickened.
