This is one of my daughter's, Stephanie, favorite way to have peas. I will often use green beans in place of the peas as well. They are equally delicious (just not so nutritious!).

How to Make Mom's Peas with Onions and Bacon


  1. In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, brown diced bacon, about 3 to 6 minutes. Add onion to the pan, and sauté another 3 minutes or so, until onions are just tender.
  2. Add peas and reduce heat to medium. Season with salt and pepper and cook peas, 5 minutes or until heated through.
  3. Transfer to a shallow bowl and serve. You can also use steamed fresh or frozen snap peas. Makes 4 servings.
