Ingredients For fried okra

1 lbfresh okra

2 cbuttermilk

1 cself-rising flour

1 tspsalt

1/4 ccornmeal

1-2 cvegetable oil
How To Make fried okra

1Cut off and discard ends from okra and into 1/2 inch thick slices. Stir into buttermilk; cover and chill for 45 minutes.

2Combine cornmeal, flour, and salt in a bowl.

3Remove okra from bowl with slotted spoon, and discard buttermilk. Dredge okra, in batches, in the cornmeal mixture.

4Pour oil to depth of 2 inches into a cast iron skillet and heat to 375 degrees. Fry okra in batches 4 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towel.
