Ingredients

    (12 oz.) frozen okra, thawed
  • 1 c
    yellow corn meal
  • 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground pepper
  • 2 large
    eggs, thoroughly beaten
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • ·
    oil for deep frying

How to Make Fried Okra

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix together flour and cornmeal. Season with salt and pepper to taste
  2. dredge okra in beaten eggs and milk, then dredge in flour-cornmeal mixture.
  3. Place okra in deep hot oil and fry on medium-high heat until golden brown. Stir occasionally so all sides get browned.
  4. Drain on a wire rack or paper towel. Sprinkle with just a small pinch more of salt.
