How to Make Fried Green Tomatoes
- 1In a shallow dish, mix flour and corn meal,
- 2Slice tomatoes 1/4 inch thick.
- 3Fill skillet 1/2 inch deep with oil. Heat oil until hot but not smoking.
- 4Sprinkle tomato slices with salt and pepper to taste. Dredge each in flour mixture to evenly coat.
- 5Carefully place slices in the oil to fry. Be sure not to crowd the tomatoes. Cook until golden brown turning once. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
