Ingredients

  • 6 medium green tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup corn meal
  • - salt and pepper, to taste
  • - vegetable oil

How To Make fried green tomatoes

  • Step 1
    In a shallow dish, mix flour and corn meal,
  • Step 2
    Slice tomatoes 1/4 inch thick.
  • Step 3
    Fill skillet 1/2 inch deep with oil. Heat oil until hot but not smoking.
  • Step 4
    Sprinkle tomato slices with salt and pepper to taste. Dredge each in flour mixture to evenly coat.
  • Step 5
    Carefully place slices in the oil to fry. Be sure not to crowd the tomatoes. Cook until golden brown turning once. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
