Ingredients
- 6 medium green tomatoes
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup corn meal
- - salt and pepper, to taste

Step 1In a shallow dish, mix flour and corn meal,

Step 2Slice tomatoes 1/4 inch thick.

Step 3Fill skillet 1/2 inch deep with oil. Heat oil until hot but not smoking.

Step 4Sprinkle tomato slices with salt and pepper to taste. Dredge each in flour mixture to evenly coat.

Step 5Carefully place slices in the oil to fry. Be sure not to crowd the tomatoes. Cook until golden brown turning once. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
