  • 6 medium
    green tomatoes
  • 1/2 c
  • 1/2 c
    corn meal
  • ·
    salt and pepper, to taste
  • ·
    vegetable oil

How to Make Fried Green Tomatoes


  1. In a shallow dish, mix flour and corn meal,
  2. Slice tomatoes 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Fill skillet 1/2 inch deep with oil. Heat oil until hot but not smoking.
  4. Sprinkle tomato slices with salt and pepper to taste. Dredge each in flour mixture to evenly coat.
  5. Carefully place slices in the oil to fry. Be sure not to crowd the tomatoes. Cook until golden brown turning once. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
