I'm not a big fan of the classic Green Bean Casserole...I'm kinda picky about how I eat my veggies and I love my veggies. So I was trying to find a different type of green bean dish to make when I dreamed up this recipe in my head a few years back. I tried it out and it was a smash hit!I've made it many time before and it is something that my family asks me to make. It is so simple and easy and you can alter it in different ways as well.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag fresh green beans
  • 2 - shallots
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic(minced)
  • 2 tablespoons wine of your choice
  • 1 package mushrooms(optional)
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make charlie's green bean toss

  • Step 1
On a cutting bored, mince up garlic and slice your shallots. Also, make sure to prepare your beans as well.
  • Step 2
In a steamer pot over the stove, steam your green beans to your desired cookness. I prefer steaming my veggies over boiling them because they retain their flavor and nutrients best this way.
  • Step 3
Transfer garlic and shallots into a preheated, large skillet with butter, add salt and pepper to taste and saute until shallots are just about caramelized. Be careful not to burn the garlic. If you are adding the mushrooms, then I suggest you add in those as well. Just as the shallots are beginning to become caramelized, you want to add in the wine of your choice to the skillet. After this mixture is finished and caramelized, set aside until your beans are done.
  • Step 4
Once your beans are done, transfer them into your serving dish and toss with the shallot mixture to mix it all together and to coat the beans. Serve and enjoy!
