  • 1 tablespoon butter, room temperature
  • 4 large garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup onions, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • dash pepper, [to our taste]
  • 1 can [14 oz] chicken broth, fat-free
  • 1 1/2 pounds green beans, fresh [cut in 1 inch pieces]
  • 6-8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

How To Make carol's green beans with garlic

  • Step 1
    IN A SAUCEPAN, MELT BUTTER AND OLIVE OIL OVER A MEDIUM HEAT.
  • Step 2
    ADD ONIONS, COOK ABOUT 2 MINUTES, THEN ADD GARLLIC; DO NOT LET GARLIC BURN.
  • Step 3
    ADD CHICKEN BROTH, SUGAR, SALT AND PEPPER; BRING TO A BOIL.
  • Step 4
    ADD GREEN BEANS, RETURN TO BOILING, COVER AND REDUCE HEAT TO LOW.
  • Step 5
    SIMMER 10-15 MINUTES OR UNTIL BEANS ARE TENDER.
  • Step 6
    PLACED PREPARED BEANS IN A SERVING DISH; TOP WITH CRUMBLED BACON.
  • Step 7
    SERVE HOT.
