Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter, room temperature
  • 4 large
    garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 c
    onions, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp
    sugar
  • dash(es)
    pepper, [to our taste]
  • 1 can(s)
    [14 oz] chicken broth, fat-free
  • 1 1/2 lb
    green beans, fresh [cut in 1 inch pieces]
  • 6-8 slice
    bacon, cooked and crumbled

How to Make CAROL'S GREEN BEANS WITH GARLIC

Step-by-Step

  1. IN A SAUCEPAN, MELT BUTTER AND OLIVE OIL OVER A MEDIUM HEAT.
  2. ADD ONIONS, COOK ABOUT 2 MINUTES, THEN ADD GARLLIC; DO NOT LET GARLIC BURN.
  3. ADD CHICKEN BROTH, SUGAR, SALT AND PEPPER; BRING TO A BOIL.
  4. ADD GREEN BEANS, RETURN TO BOILING, COVER AND REDUCE HEAT TO LOW.
  5. SIMMER 10-15 MINUTES OR UNTIL BEANS ARE TENDER.
  6. PLACED PREPARED BEANS IN A SERVING DISH; TOP WITH CRUMBLED BACON.
  7. SERVE HOT.
