any way you like fried cabbage
My husband makes the best fried cabbage in the world, and this is it!! Sometimes he puts apples or potatoes or both in it. Play with this recipe any way you like and it's still delicious.

Ingredients
- 1 pound bacon, diced
- 1 - medium onion, chopped
- 2 pounds cabbage, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon course grind black pepper
- 1 or 2 - medium potatoes, cubed or sliced (optional)
- 1 or 2 - apples, cored and sliced (optional)
- - any amount of (preferably frozen) corn, green beans, or baby lima beans, etc. if using canned, drain well. (optional)
How To Make any way you like fried cabbage

Step 1Fry bacon until crisp and well browned. Drain on paper towels and set aside.

Step 2Drain all but about 2 Tblsps. bacon grease from the pan. Add chopped onion and stir until translucent.

Step 3Add cabbage, pepper flakes, salt and pepper to the pan. Stir until all cabbage is coated.

Step 4Cook over low heat just until cabbage is cooked down and potatoes, apples, other vegetables, etc. (if using) are tender. Remove lid and continue cooking to boil away excess liquid.

Step 5Add bacon and toss just before serving.
