Steakhouse-Style Stewed Tomato Casserole

This recipe comes from one of my old Junior League cookbooks.
1 smallonion, chopped
1 1/2 cbread cubes (dry, plain)
1/2 clight brown sugar
5 ccanned tomatoes (crushed, diced or fire-roasted)
1 tspsalt (or to taste)
1/2 tspfreshly ground black pepper
How to Make Steakhouse-Style Stewed Tomato Casserole
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Saute onion in butter until soft, but not browned. Add bread cubes and brown sugar. Cook and stir over low heat for 3-5 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer mixture to a greased shallow casserole dish. Bake 30-40 minutes or until bubbly.
