A great side dish to steak and potatoes. This recipe comes from one of my old Junior League cookbooks.

Ingredients
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 cups bread cubes (dry, plain)
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 5 cups canned tomatoes (crushed, diced or fire-roasted)
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
How To Make steakhouse-style stewed tomato casserole

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Saute onion in butter until soft, but not browned. Add bread cubes and brown sugar. Cook and stir over low heat for 3-5 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and season with salt and pepper.

Step 2Transfer mixture to a greased shallow casserole dish. Bake 30-40 minutes or until bubbly.
