Ingredients

  • 2 cups pepperidge farm herb dressing bread crumbles
  • 1 cup chicken broth, low salt
  • 1/8 cup green onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/8 cup diced craisins
  • 1/8 cup carrots, shredded or chopped fine
  • 1/8 cup water chestnuts, drained and sliced match stick like
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup jimmy dean maple flavored sausage, crumbled, cooked & drained
  • - chopped apple - optional

How To Make maple sausage dressing w/craisins & water chestnut

  • Step 1
Saute green onion, celery, & carrots in butter, until crisp tender. Add sausage to taste, I use about 1/2 cup.
  • Step 2
In large bowl combine all ingredients until moistened. (Sometimes I add a little more chicken broth.)
  • Step 3
Place in greased casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.
  • Step 4
The water chestnuts give the dressing a pleasant crunch factor. Craisins give it a nice zip, and a wonderful holiday color. Sausage is optional but it does give a nice contrast between the Craisins and water chestnuts.
