Ingredients

  • 6 - russet potatoes peeled and slice 1/4 inch thick
  • 1 large onion sliced into rings
  • 1 stick butter
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1 package onion soup mix
  • 8 ounces cracker barrel sharp cheddar cheese
  • 8 ounces cracker barrel vermont sharp cheddar cheese

How To Make smothered cottage fries

  • Step 1
    Add butter to large skillet. Fry the potatoes and onion until browned and softened.
  • Step 2
    Mix the sour cream with the onion soup mix. Add the cheeses and pour over potatoes. cook until cheese is a melted.
