Great side dish for those large family holidays.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 6 cups yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 - onions, julienne
  • 2 cups sharp white shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups sharp yellow shredded cheddar cheese

How To Make au gratin potatoes

  • Step 1
    Melt butter in saucepan. Add flour and brown lightly. Add dry mustard, white pepper and half and half. Heat until it starts to thicken.
  • Step 2
    Layer potatoes, onion, cheese, and sauce in a 13x9 pan. I do three layers.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 350 degrees covered for 45 minutes, uncovered for additionall 15-30 minutes until the top looks a little crusty
