Ingredients

  • 6 medium
    red potatoes, washed and cut in half
  • 1 1/4 c
    whole milk
  • 2 tsp
    garlic powder with parsley
  • ·
    salt to taste if needed
  • 3/4 tsp
    ground pepper, or more to taste
  • 3 Tbsp
    unsalted butter
  • 2 stalk(s)
    green onion, small dice
  • FOR THE BOILING POT

  • 2 qt
    water
  • 1 tsp
    olive oil
  • 1 tsp
    salt

How to Make Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Step-by-Step

  1. Scrub, wash, and cut in half the potatoes. (Leave the skins on.) In a large boiling pot, bring 2 qts. water, 1 teas. olive oil, and 1 teas. salt to a boil.
  2. Add potatoes and boil until you can easily puncture with a fork. (12 to 15 minutes) Drain into a colander.
  3. Add the butter into a large serving bowl. Pour the potatoes on top of the butter and allow it to melt about 2 minutes. Mash the potatoes down with a fork.
  4. Add garlic powder, salt, ground pepper, and milk. Blend with a mixer until potatoes are smooth and creamy. Add the green onions and mix with a spoon until blended well.
  5. If potatoes are too thick, add more milk a TBLS. at a time. Add more salt and ground pepper to taste if desired.
