How To Make fantastic french fries
Test Kitchen Tips
Make sure to cut your potatoes in a consistent size. Some of ours were a little bigger, so we let the fries cook an extra five minutes.
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Grease a baking sheet.
-
Step 2Place sliced potatoes in a colander; sprinkle sugar over potatoes. Set aside until liquid is released from potatoes, 20 to 30 minutes. Drain liquid and dry potatoes well.
-
Step 3Mix potato slices, olive oil, garlic powder, and salt until evenly coated.
-
Step 4Spread potato slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
-
Step 5Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Flip fries and cook about 20 more minutes or until crispy and golden.
