My family LOVES these potatoes! I have never really had a taste for "scalloped potatoes" guess I never cared for the white creamy curdled looking stuff, BUT found these again on FB and these are again...(singing) AMAZINGGGGG!! I made them for Thanksgiving this year and of course there was none left for leftovers.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

  • 4 c
    thinly sliced potatoes
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 dash(es)
    cayenne or red pepper
  • 1 c
    shredded sharp cheddar cheese (kraft)
  • 1/2 c
    shredded cheddar cheese to sprinkle on top
  • 1/2 tsp
    paprika

How to Make Cheezy Scalloped Potatoes

Step-by-Step

  1. IN A SMALL SAUCE PAN, MELT BUTTER AND BLEND IN FLOUR, LET SET FOR A MINUTE
  2. ADD THE MILD, STIRRING WITH A WHISK, ADD SALT AND CAYENNE PEPPER.
  3. COOK SAUCE ON LOW UNTIL SMOOTH AND BOILING, STIRRING OCCASIONALLY WITH A WHISK.
  4. REDUCE HEAT AND STIR IN CHEESE (1 CUP)
  5. PUT THE SLICED POTATOES IN A GREASED 1 QUART CASSEROLE DISH.
  6. POUR THE CHEESE SAUCE OVER THE POTATOES.
  7. SPRINKLE THE REMAINING CHEESE ON TOP (1/2 CUP) AND PAPRIKA
  8. BAKE UNCOVERED FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AT 350
