My family LOVES these potatoes! I have never really had a taste for "scalloped potatoes" guess I never cared for the white creamy curdled looking stuff, BUT found these again on FB and these are again...(singing) AMAZINGGGGG!! I made them for Thanksgiving this year and of course there was none left for leftovers.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 dashes cayenne or red pepper
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (kraft)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese to sprinkle on top
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

How To Make cheezy scalloped potatoes

  • Step 1
    IN A SMALL SAUCE PAN, MELT BUTTER AND BLEND IN FLOUR, LET SET FOR A MINUTE
  • Step 2
    ADD THE MILD, STIRRING WITH A WHISK, ADD SALT AND CAYENNE PEPPER.
  • Step 3
    COOK SAUCE ON LOW UNTIL SMOOTH AND BOILING, STIRRING OCCASIONALLY WITH A WHISK.
  • Step 4
    REDUCE HEAT AND STIR IN CHEESE (1 CUP)
  • Step 5
    PUT THE SLICED POTATOES IN A GREASED 1 QUART CASSEROLE DISH.
  • Step 6
    POUR THE CHEESE SAUCE OVER THE POTATOES.
  • Step 7
    SPRINKLE THE REMAINING CHEESE ON TOP (1/2 CUP) AND PAPRIKA
  • Step 8
    BAKE UNCOVERED FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AT 350
