Ingredients

  • 6 - fresh sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • - salt to taste
  • - butter or margarine
  • **PREHEAT OVEN TO 425 DEGREES**

How To Make candied sweet potatoes

  • Step 1
    Cook potatoes (skins on) in a large pot of boiling water until almost tender (semi-hard). Peel the potatoes when cooled. Slice potatoes into about 1/4 inch rounds.
  • Step 2
    Make a syrup of the brown sugar and water. Dip the potato rounds in the syrup and line in a greased large casserole dish. Season with salt and thin slices of butter. Pour any of the remaining syrup over the potatoes. Bake until potatoes are brown. (quick process)
