Bunyan's Bacon & Onion Foil Packet Potatoes

These guys can go on your grill and they are delish! DON'T add any salt! The onion soup mix is salty and so is the bacon, then if you throw in the cheese, you gotta salt bomb!

heavy-duty foil
1 pkg
dry onion soup mix, divided between the 4 pouches
baby red potatoes, thinly sliced
16 slice
bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 medium
shallot, small diced
1 c
cheese (optional)
fresh ground black pepper to taste
4 Tbsp
1/2 sprig(s)
fresh rosemary for each serving
sour cream for serving (optional)

How to Make Bunyan's Bacon & Onion Foil Packet Potatoes


  • 1Spray each sheet of foil with Pam.
  • 2Top each piece with equal portions of potatoes, bacon, 1/4 packet onion soup mix and mix it up
  • 3Add pepper to taste
  • 4Add 1 tablespoon of butter to each serving
  • 5Put the rosemary sprig on top of the butter
  • 6Wrap them up tight
  • 7Grill for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • 8Or you can bake it in the oven, at 350° for about 35 minutes or till done (they're better grilled IMHO!)
  • 9Let stand 10 minutes before serving
  • 10Serve in foil, topped with sour cream or cheese or both if you want
