9 medium
potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
4 slice
thick bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 c
diced ham
1/4 c
1/2 c
butter or margerine
4 oz
velveeta, diced
16 oz
sharp cheddar cheese, grated
2 can(s)
evaporated milk
1 tsp
water to make 4 cups liquid with milk
1 tsp
garlic, salt and pepper mix, or to taste
1 small
onion, chopped

How to Make Bacon, Ham and Sharp Cheddar Au Gratin Potatoes


  • 1Cook bacon until crisp, chop and set aside
  • 2Saute onions in bacon fat until soft, drain excess fat from skillet. Add butter and flour, cook until it forms a paste. Slowly add milk and water mixture, cook on med until sauce thickens, add Velveeta and stir off heat until melted.
  • 3Spray 9 by 13 dish with cooking spray. Add small amount sauce to bottom of pan. Add layer of potatoes, 1/3 of ham, 1/3 of bacon and cover with 1/4 of sauce and 1/4 of grated cheddar. Repeat layers 2 more times, ending with cheese sauce, cheddar cheese and bacon. Bake at 400 for app 1 hour.
