Ingredients
- 1 box elbow macaroni, cooked
- 1 quart milk
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 8 ounces sharp cheddar grated, white
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 - tomato sliced, optional
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 4 cups gruyere cheese, about 12 ounces
- 1/2 cup flour
How To Make sharon's mac n cheese

Step 1Cook and drain pasta according to directions.

Step 2Heat milk in sauce pan. Do not boil. Add butter and flour, whisking. Keep on low heat until thickening begins.

Step 3Remove from heat and add spices and cheeses. Stir in pasta.

Step 4Pour into 3 quart dishing. Arrange tomato slices down center, on top of pasta.

Step 5Melt 2 tablespoons butter and add bread crumbs. Stir and sprinkle over pasta. Bake 30-35 ,minutes.
