Found this recipe in a cookbook I got in a box of books from an auction. Love to browse through cookbooks young and old.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound macaroni
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

How To Make president reagan's favorite macaroni and cheese.

  • Step 1
    Cook macaroni in boiling water until tender and drain thoroughly.
  • Step 2
    Stir in butter and egg. Mix salt and mustard with hot water. Add to milk.
  • Step 3
    Add cheese, reserving enough to sprinkle over top. Pour macaroni into buttered casserole. Add milk-cheese mixture. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 350 about 45 minutes or until casserole is set and top is crusty.
