For many years before I quit eating meat,I did not add meat to beans. The bouillon cube and plenty of garlic, onions, they are very flavorful.I don't personally care for cumin, add if you like. When I cook beans,I also add a pot of water on a low simmer,if you need to add additional water while cooking, add hot water. You can also cook the beans in the crock pot. Also when I use bouillon cubes,I don't add additional salt, taste for seasoning and decide if you need salt or another bouillon cube. A friend of mine says she adds a tablespoon of olive oil at the end of cooking,I don't always do that.

How To Make vegetarian black beans

  • Step 1
Pick through beans for rocks or bad beans.Rinse several times. I don't soak beans overnight but if you do,do so. Place all ingredients in a large pan and enough cold water to cover 3-4 inches.Bring to a boil, simmer 11/2 -2 hours until beans are tender, may need to add additional water.
