Ingredients
- 2 cups dry black beans
- 2 - bay leaves
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 large red bell pepper chopped
- 1 large onion chopped
- 6 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup sherry wine
- 1/2 - red onion chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped
How To Make sweet cuban black beans

Step 1Soak beans in salted water to cover 3 inches overnight. Drain and place in a large soup pot with bay leaves and fresh water to cover 3 inches. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer and cook until beans are tender about 2 hours.

Step 2After an hour and a half heat oil over medium heat and add bell pepper and onion and cook until tender about 7 minutes. Add garlic, oregano, and cumin.

Step 3Place mixture in pan with beans and add sugar, sherry, and red onions. Cook another 30 minutes. Salt to taste and add cilantro.
