This was a very nice alternative to traditional stuffing. We tried this for Thanksgiving.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups seasoned stuffing cubes
  • 1 pound sausage
  • 1 - large onion chopped
  • 1 - large apple peeled and choppedd
  • 1 - rib of celery chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1/2 tablespoon sage
  • 1 1/4 cups chicken broth
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make sausage apple stuffing

  • Step 1
    preheat oven to 325
  • Step 2
    put stuffing in a large bowl and set aside. cook sausage in a large skillet until sausage is no longer pink. drain excess oil.
  • Step 3
    cook diced apple and onion in butter until softened. Mix apple mixture and sausage in with the stuffing.
  • Step 4
    stir in broth, nuts, salt, pepper and sage. toss to coat.
  • Step 5
    transfer to greased 3 quart baking dish.
  • Step 6
    cover and bake at 325 for 30 minutes. uncover and bake 10 minutes longer or until lightly browned.
