Ingredients

  • 2 cups matzo farfel
  • 4 - eggs, well beaten
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons melted butter and cooled
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 - large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup water

How To Make passover apple matzo kugel

  • Step 1
    Mix the farfel with 2 of the eggs and 1/2 tsp. of the salt and then toast the mixture over medium low heat in a heavy skillet. Set aside.
  • Step 2
    In a medium bowl, beat the remaing 2 eggs and a 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. cinnamon, and 3 tbsps. of the melted cooled butter. Add in the toasted farfel mixture and 1/2 cup water.
  • Step 3
    In a greased 8 X 8 baking dish, layer 1/2 the apples, and sprinkle with the lemon juice and a dusting of cinnamon, then add the matza farfel mixture and top with the remaining apples. Then sprinkle with nuts and dust it more cinnamon and pour over the remaining melted butter.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
