Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup corn meal
  • 8 ounces mild cheddar cheese--shredded or grated

How To Make palukas (creamy polenta)

  • Step 1
    Mix first three ingredients in a 1 1/2 quart casserole. Cover. Microwave on HIGH for 5 minutes and then stir and recover and microwave on HIGH another 4 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Layer the polenta in another casserole with cheese(the more the better) and microwave to melt the cheese.
