Grandma's Dill Pickles
11 smallcucumbers (pickling size)
1/8 tsppowdered alum
1 smallgarlic clove
2 mediumdill heads (fresh)
1 smallhot red pepper
1 qtapple cider vinegar
How to Make Grandma's Dill Pickles
- Wash cucumbers. Use large bowl or crock. Put cold tap water in bowl with cucumbers. Soak overnight.
- Heat vinegar, water & salt. Heat to boiling & fill jars.
- Use canning method for sealing jars. If just doing a small batch, just store in the refrigerator.
Also pepper flakes can be used instead of red peppers.
