I love making things from scratch, this is great with mashed potatoes and banquet dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 - head of cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 tablespoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

How To Make cole slaw

  • Step 1
    Finely chop the cabbage (I use a food processor for this)
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl, combine the sugar, salt, pepper, milk, mayonnaise, vinegar and lemon juice. Mix well. Stir in the cabbage. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  • Step 3
    Since this has mayonnaise in it, if you plan on having it for a picnic you will need to keep it cold. If it is going to be sitting our for awhile, take a large bowl and put ice in the bottom of it and then sit a smaller bowl (with your coleslaw in it) inside of the larger bowl.
