Baked Beans with Kielbasa

I received the basic recipe from a co-worker and then tweaked it by adding my favorite ingredients. The end result quickly became a family favorite.

  • 2 can(s)
    (28 oz each) bush's baked beans - drained
  • 1 lb
    kielbasa - cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1 small
    onion - finely diced
  • 1 small
    green bell pepper - finely diced
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    prepared mustard
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp
    liquid smoke
  • 1/4 - 1/2 c
    brown sugar - packed
  • 1 bottle
    bbq sauce

How to Make Baked Beans with Kielbasa


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Add the onions & bell pepper to a small sauté pan with a small amount of vegetable oil. Heat until the onions are almost transparent. Transfer to a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl, except the kielbasa, and adjust the amounts to your taste. Add the kielbasa and stir to combine.
  4. Pour the mixture into a baking dish. Bake for an hour, or until heated through and the sauce is thick.

    VARIATION: Substitute 1 pound of ground beef for the kielbasa. Cook the onions & peppers with the ground beef. Drain before adding to the bean mixture.
