vanilla cinnamon apple slices
This recipe makes 5 to 8 pt. jars depending on the juiciness of the apples and how much you pack in the jars. My mom used to make these all the time. So much better than the prepackaged ones in the store.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup red hot candies
- 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste
- 2 cups water
- 11/2 cups cider vinegar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons red food coloring
- 20 - apples peeled cored and sliced into rings
- 5 teaspoons whole cloves
- 5 - cinnamon sticks
- 5 - vanilla beans

Step 1Clean 5 pt. jars.

Step 2Combine all ingredients except apples, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves and vanilla beans. Bring to a boil. Add apple rings and cook 4 minutes.

Step 3Place one cinnamon stick, 1 tsp. whole cloves and one vanilla bean in each jar.

Step 4With slotted spoon pack apples into jars and ladle syrup over top.

Step 5Process in hot water bath for 15 minutes
