Ingredients
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- salt
- 1 pound Italian sausage, casing removed
- 1 cup tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons molasses
- 2 large cans pork and beans
- 1 1/2 dashes water
- 5 slices bacon
How To Make sausage baked beans

Step 1Coat a large Dutch oven with olive oil, add the onion, green pepper, and garlic, and season with salt. Cook about 10 minutes.

Step 2Add the sausage and season with salt, and cook until no longer pink. Add the tomato paste and cumin and cook for 3 minutes.

Step 3Add the Dijon, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, beans, and water. Bring to a boil.

Step 4Reduce to a simmer and simmer about 20 minutes.

Step 5Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Cut the bacon into pieces and lay it on top of the beans.

Step 6Place in oven uncovered for about 30 minutes.
