this penne pasta recipe i created,it's a macaroni and cheese version,it filled with fried mushrooms.it's great with fried chicken.

Ingredients For penne and cheese with fried mushrooms

  • 2 c
    cubed processed american cheese
  • 1
    (8 ounce) package uncooked penne pasta
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1/2 lb
    portebello mushrooms,sliced
  • 1 c
    grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 c
    panko bread crumbs
  • 1 c
    melted margarine,divided
  • 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1
    large clove garlic ,minced
  • 1
    packet italian dressing mix
  • 2 c
    milk
  • 1 c
    shredded shap cheddar cheese
  • 1 c
    diced carrot
  • 1 c
    shredded monterey jack cheese
  • 1 c
    shredded mozzarella cheese

How To Make penne and cheese with fried mushrooms

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.Lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish.Add cubed american cheese.

    Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.Place pasta in the pot,cook for 8 to 10 minutes;drain.

    In a large bowl,combine sliced mushrooms,grated parmesan cheese,bread crumbs and 1/2 cup melted margarine,mix well.

    Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.Stir in prepared mushrooms,cook in 4 minutes and set aside.

    Add remaining melted margarine in a large saucepan,mix in flour,garlic and italian dressing mix.Gradually mix in milk until thickened.Stir in shredded sharp cheddar cheese until melted.

    Remove saucepan from heat and mix in cooked pasta,fried mushrooms and diced carrot.Transfer to the prepared baking dish and top with shredded monterey jack and mozzarella cheese.

    Bake 20 minutes in the preheated oven,until bubbly and lightly brown.
