this penne pasta recipe i created,it's a macaroni and cheese version,it filled with fried mushrooms.it's great with fried chicken.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cubed processed American cheese
  • 16 ounces uncooked penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 pound portebello mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 1 cup melted margarine, divided
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 5 cloves garlic ,minced
  • 1 - packet Italian dressing mix
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup diced carrot
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

How To Make penne and cheese with fried mushrooms

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add cubed American cheese.
  • Step 2
    Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Place pasta in the pot, cook for 8 to 10 minutes; drain.
  • Step 3
    In a large bowl, combine sliced mushrooms, grated Parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, and 1/2 cup melted margarine; mix well.
  • Step 4
    Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir in prepared mushrooms, cook for 4 minutes, and set aside.
  • Step 5
    Add remaining melted margarine to a large saucepan, mix in flour, garlic, and Italian dressing mix. Gradually mix in milk until thickened. Stir in shredded sharp cheddar cheese until melted.
  • Step 6
    Remove the saucepan from the heat and mix in cooked pasta, fried mushrooms, and diced carrot. Transfer to the prepared baking dish and top with shredded Monterey Jack and mozzarella cheese.
  • Step 7
    Bake 20 minutes in the preheated oven, until bubbly and lightly browned.
