Ingredients

  • 1 medium
    onion, chopped
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1/4 lb
    bacon, cut into 1" pieces
  • 16 oz
    canned kidney beans
  • 16 oz
    frozen lima beans
  • 16 oz
    canned pork and beans
  • 1 Tbsp
    yellow mustard
  • 3 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    vinegar - apple cider or red wine are best
  • 3/4 c
    ketchup

How to Make Mom's Easy Baked Beans

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown bacon in Dutch oven or saute pan, and remove. Saute onion and garlic in bacon grease and return bacon to pan. Pour off any excess grease.
  2. If using Dutch oven, add remaining ingredients to pan with bacon mixture and stir to combine.
  3. Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour
  4. If you are not using a Dutch oven, combine all ingredients in oven-proof 3 qt. casserole and bake as directed.
