My mother used to make these for all our summer get-togethers.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 pound bacon, cut into 1" pieces
  • 16 ounces canned kidney beans
  • 16 ounces frozen lima beans
  • 16 ounces canned pork and beans
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar - apple cider or red wine are best
  • 3/4 cup ketchup

How To Make mom's easy baked beans

  • Step 1
    Brown bacon in Dutch oven or saute pan, and remove. Saute onion and garlic in bacon grease and return bacon to pan. Pour off any excess grease.
  • Step 2
    If using Dutch oven, add remaining ingredients to pan with bacon mixture and stir to combine.
  • Step 3
    Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour
  • Step 4
    If you are not using a Dutch oven, combine all ingredients in oven-proof 3 qt. casserole and bake as directed.
