We love baked mac & cheese; everything is better with bacon:) I figured let's try them together however, I needed to take out some of the fat. I came up with this yummy dish it was a hit, I served it with baked chicken and a salad, delish.

Stove Top


  • 1 lb
    macaroni, elbow
  • 1 stick
  • 3 Tbsp
  • 1 Tbsp
    dry mustard
  • 3 c
    fat free milk
  • 4 c
    sargento shredded reduced fat mexican mix cheese or sharp cheddar
  • 1 lb
    turkey bacon - cooked and cut up
  • 1 Tbsp
    tastefully simple onion onion
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 c
    italian bread crumbs

How to Make Macaroni and Cheese with Bacon – (reduced fat version)


  1. Cook pasta for approx 6 mins, do not over cook, strain and leave in colander
  2. Melt butter in a pot, add flour and dry mustard, whisk until smooth
  3. Slowly add milk whisking out the lumps
  4. Add the cheeses and stir until melted
  5. Stir in pepper,onion onion,and bacon,
  6. Return macaroni to the pot of cheese mixture and mix well
  7. Pour macaroni mixture into a 3 qt oven proof bowl
  8. Top with the bread crumbs
  9. Cover bake for 14 mins, remove lid and bake additional 10 mins or until brown and bubbly, remove from oven and ENJOY!!
