We love baked mac & cheese; everything is better with bacon:) I figured let's try them together however, I needed to take out some of the fat. I came up with this yummy dish it was a hit, I served it with baked chicken and a salad, delish.

Stove Top


1 lb
macaroni, elbow
1 stick
3 Tbsp
1 Tbsp
dry mustard
3 c
fat free milk
4 c
sargento shredded reduced fat mexican mix cheese or sharp cheddar
1 lb
turkey bacon - cooked and cut up
1 Tbsp
tastefully simple onion onion
1 tsp
1/2 c
italian bread crumbs

How to Make Macaroni and Cheese with Bacon – (reduced fat version)


  • 1Cook pasta for approx 6 mins, do not over cook, strain and leave in colander
  • 2Melt butter in a pot, add flour and dry mustard, whisk until smooth
  • 3Slowly add milk whisking out the lumps
  • 4Add the cheeses and stir until melted
  • 5Stir in pepper,onion onion,and bacon,
  • 6Return macaroni to the pot of cheese mixture and mix well
  • 7Pour macaroni mixture into a 3 qt oven proof bowl
  • 8Top with the bread crumbs
  • 9Cover bake for 14 mins, remove lid and bake additional 10 mins or until brown and bubbly, remove from oven and ENJOY!!
