macaroni and cheese with bacon – (reduced fat version)

We love baked mac & cheese; everything is better with bacon:) I figured let's try them together however, I needed to take out some of the fat. I came up with this yummy dish it was a hit, I served it with baked chicken and a salad, delish.

Ingredients
- 1 pound macaroni, elbow
- 1 stick butter
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 3 cups fat free milk
- 4 cups sargento shredded reduced fat mexican mix cheese or sharp cheddar
- 1 pound turkey bacon - cooked and cut up
- 1 tablespoon tastefully simple onion onion
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup italian bread crumbs
How To Make macaroni and cheese with bacon – (reduced fat version)

Step 1Cook pasta for approx 6 mins, do not over cook, strain and leave in colander

Step 2Melt butter in a pot, add flour and dry mustard, whisk until smooth

Step 3Slowly add milk whisking out the lumps

Step 4Add the cheeses and stir until melted

Step 5Stir in pepper,onion onion,and bacon,

Step 6Return macaroni to the pot of cheese mixture and mix well

Step 7Pour macaroni mixture into a 3 qt oven proof bowl

Step 8Top with the bread crumbs

Step 9Cover bake for 14 mins, remove lid and bake additional 10 mins or until brown and bubbly, remove from oven and ENJOY!!
