Ingredients

  • 8 ounces elbow noodle
  • 4 tablespoons butter, cold
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 cups cream or milk
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
  • - bread crumbs to cover top

How To Make homemade mac and cheese

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook noodles, rinse and drain.
  • Step 2
    melt butter in medium saucepan, mix flour, salt, pepper and mustard in small bowl and add to butter, whisk till smooth and bubbly. Gradually stir in cream till thick and smooth, remove from heat
  • Step 3
    Mix noodles and cheese together, then add sauce and pour into a buttered baking dish and sprinkle with bread crumbs Bake till bubbly, and top is golden brown, about 30 minutes
