- 2 - cups of lightly packed light brown sugar
- 1 - 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows
How To Make grandma's candied yams
-
Step 1Using a knife, poke holes in sweet potatoes. Place potatoes on a large baking sheet lined with foil, and bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.
-
Step 2Let potatoes cool completely. After cooled, peel and slice into 1 1/2 inch rounds. You want these thick so they don't fall apart.
-
Step 3In an ungreased 9x13 baking dish, put 1 layer of sweet potatoes, 1 cup of brown sugar, and 1/3 of the bag of marshmallows.
-
Step 4Put another layer of sweet potatoes, the other 1 cup of sugar, and 1/3 of the marshmallows.
-
Step 5Cover and bake at 325 for 2 hours, or until the juice is the consistency of thick syrup, basting occasionally.
-
Step 6Add remaining marshmallows to the top and put under the broiler until lightly browned.
