crumble topping
My recipe card says this came from "www.cooks.com" as a Sweet potato Casserole topping, but to be honest, I use this on EVERYTHING that needs a streusel or crumble topping. I only buy Old Fashioned oats & never seem to have any issues & it is the cheapest to buy by far.

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup oats
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (can bump up to 1 Tbsp if wished
- 1/3 cup cold lard (butter can be used too)
- 1 cup pecan pieces
- 3/4 cup shredded coconut {optional}
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger {optional}
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg {optional}
How To Make crumble topping
-
Step 1Put all ingredients in the food processor & whirl until crumbly. Can also use a bowl & pastry blender until crumbly.
-
Step 2My family doesn't care for the coconut flakes, but I like it. The ginger & nutmeg give it a bit of Holiday cheer, but I do not always add them to this.
