This dish is my all-time favorite go to side dish for BBQ. It also is a very satisfying meal in itself for those nights when I don't feel like cooking. I've taken this to potlucks and company picnics and everyone wants the recipe.

Ingredients
- 1/2 pound ground chuck 80/20
- 1/2 pound diced bacon
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
- 1-55 ounce can bush's baked beans
- 1-14.5 ounce can black beans, drained
- 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 tablespoons worchestershire sauce
- 2-3 dashes hickory liquid smoke
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
How To Make cowboy beans

Step 1Brown first 4 ingredients over medium heat and drain the fat.

Step 2In a large mixing bowl, combine remaining ingredients until well mixed.

Step 3Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Add hamburger mix to bean mixture and stir well. Pour into 13x9 baking dish and top with strips of bacon (if desired) and bake for 1 hour until beans are bubbly and bacon is browned. Enjoy!!

Step 4Variation: HAWAIIAN COWBOY BEANS Same as above, but add a 20 oz. can of pineapple tidbits, drained. Very Yummy!
