cheddar cabbage casserole

I ran across this recipe from an old copy of "Taste of Home" magazine. I just love cabbage, and who doesn't love cheese!! I thought this sounded so good, but it hasn't been tested in my kitchen, so let me know what you think.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups coarsley crushed cornflakes
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 4 1/2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 cup chopped, onion
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can (10-3/4 oz.) condensed cream of celery soup, undiluted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (8 oz.)

How To Make cheddar cabbage casserole

  • Step 1
    Toss the cornflakes and butter; spoon half into a greased 13 x 9 x 2 in. baking dish. Layer with the cabbage, onion, salt and pepper. In a bowl, combine the soup, milk and mayonnaise until smooth. Spoon over top; sprinkle with cheese and remaining cornflake mixture.

    bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
