This new green bean casserole recipe I created is with the first-ever bacon medley.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups French fried onions, divided
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 pound thick sliced bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1 medium yellow bell pepper, diced
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 medium purple onion, chopped
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons steak seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 4 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.5 ounce)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cans cut green beans, drained (15 ounce)
  • 1 cup shredded Colby Jack cheese

How To Make bacon medley green bean casserole

  • Step 1
    Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Coat a 9x13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray. Add 1 cup French fried onions.
  • Step 3
    Heat olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add raw bacon pieces, diced yellow and red peppers, and chopped purple onion. Cook and saute for 8 minutes or until the bacon pieces are brown and crispy and the vegetables are tender.
  • Step 4
    Remove from heat. Season with steak seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper. Set aside.
  • Step 5
    Heat the margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add heavy cream, soup, and cream cheese. Stir well and bring it to a boil for 5 minutes until thickened.
  • Step 6
    Add green beans and bacon medley; mix well for 5 minutes until blended. Remove from heat.
  • Step 7
    Pour over a prepared baking dish and spread evenly with a rubber spatula.
  • Step 8
    Sprinkle with shredded Colby Jack cheese and remaining French fried onions.
  • Step 9
    Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Cool completely for 15 minutes.
