This new green bean casserole recipe I created. I used crumbled bacon as a topping, and the sauce was made of American cheese with a side for fried chicken and pasta salad.

Ingredients

  • CASSEROLE
  • 2 cups crumbled cooked bacon, divided
  • 1 tablespoon sweet and tangy seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cans cut green beans, drained
  • 1 medium red onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon creole seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • AMERICAN CHEESE SAUCE
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup half and half
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 - packet dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup cubed processed american cheese

How To Make american green bean casserole

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Coat the bottom and sides of a 3-quart baking dish with cooking spray. Add 1 cup crumbled bacon. Season with sweet and tangy seasoning and crushed red pepper flakes; mix well.
  • Step 3
    Heat olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add green beans and chopped red onion. Saute for 5 minutes or until tender.
  • Step 4
    Mix with Creole seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper. Remove from heat.
  • Step 5
    Spoon into a prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Step 6
    Heat the margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  • Step 7
    Combine heavy cream, half and half, cream cheese, dry onion soup mix, and cubed American cheese. Stir well and bring it to a boil for 5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat.
  • Step 8
    Pour over the green bean mixture and mix well. Sprinkle with shredded sharp cheddar cheese and remaining crumbled bacon.
  • Step 9
    Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted.
