I love this as a side for pork chops, or roasted chicken. You can substitute walnuts for pecans if you prefer. I'm just not a fan of walnuts.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 3/4 cup uncooked wild rice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped and toasted

How To Make wild rice and pecans

  • Step 1
    Combine the chicken broth, soy sauce, and thyme in a heavy saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil. Gradually add the rice, stirring constantly.
  • Step 2
    Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 35 to 40 minutes or until the rice is tender. Set the rice aside.
  • Step 3
    Saute the onions and celery in butter in a large skillet until tender. Add the reserved rice and toasted pecans. Stir well and enjoy!
