There are dozens upon dozens of Turkish pilaf recipes. This version is really easy to prepare, and the list of ingredients adds a special touch to this dish. It includes both almonds and pistachio nuts, prunes and apricots and warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. This pilaf is a great side dish to go with spicy meat dishes, but it's also good with vegetarian dishes as well.

Ingredients For turkish pilaf

  • 1 1/2 cups
    brown rice, uncooked
  • 4 cups
    water
  • 2 Tbsp
    slivered almonds
  • 2 Tbsp
    pistachio nuts, shelled and coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 cup
    dried prunes, chopped
  • 1/4 cup
    dried apricots, chopped
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground nutmeg (optional)

How To Make turkish pilaf

  • 1
    Bring water to a brisk boil in a medium saucepan. Add brown rice, stir well, and cover pan. Reduce heat to low and let the rice simmer for 45 minutes over low heat.

    Stir in all remaining ingredients, and serve immediately while still warm.
