My Aunt Ellen, who was from St Louis, brought this recipe to us from a friend in St Paul, so we always called it St Paul's Rice. It is now a staple at all our BBQs and many family holiday dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb
    sausage (ground)
  • 1 sm
    onion (chopped)
  • 1
    green pepper (chopped)
  • 3 stalks
    celery (chopped)
  • 2-1/2 cups
    water
  • 1 cup
    white rice
  • 2 pkgs
    chicken noodle soup mix
  • 1 sm jar
    pimento
  • 1/2 pkg
    slivered almonds

How to Make St Paul's Rice

Step-by-Step

  1. Cover Rice with water and cook lie about 5 minutes. Add chicken flavored noodle soup mix and continue cooking about 10 more minutes
  2. Brown loose ground sausage, add pepper, onion, and celery.
  3. When rice is almost done, mix sausage mix, rice, pimentos and slivered almonds.
  4. Bake in a greased pan at 350° For approximately 45 minutes.
