I got this recipe from my mother and I just added a few ingredients of my own to it.My husband loves this rice and looks foward to it each time i make it!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white long grain rice
  • 1 tablespoon vegitable oil
  • 1 can dice tomatos with green chili
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 pinches cilantro, fresh and chopped finely
  • 2 sprigs green onions
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • - salt to taste
  • - pepper to taste

How To Make spanish rice

  • Step 1
    add oil to large frying pan and turn to medium high heat. Add rice and "continually" stir rice until golden brown
  • Step 2
    add water and turn down heat to low and add all other ingredients.
  • Step 3
    Cover with lid and let cook for 20 minutes, stirring only once about half way through cooking time. if you stir more rice can get mushy.
