simple arabic rice

This is a simple twist on rice. It can be eaten as is or top it with a Meat or Vegetable stew recipe that I have posted. I also ate this growing up with just plain yoghurt on top. Yummy!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice
  • 1/4 cup butter or olive oil
  • - small handful broken vermicelli or broken thin spaghetti
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 3/4 cups hot water or broth

How To Make simple arabic rice

  • Step 1
    Fry vermicelli in butter or olive oil until golden.
  • Step 2
    Add rice, water & salt.
  • Step 3
    Bring to a boil, then cover & simmer about 30 minutes or until tender & water is absorbed.
