I'm not much of a fan of the rice with tomato sauce or heavily spiced, I like this plain Mexican rice much better.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 tablespoon bacon grease
- 1/4 cup very finely diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup white long grain rice
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or cilantro
- salt & pepper to taste
How To Make seasoned white rice

Step 1Heat oil and bacon grease in a medium skillet over medium high heat.

Step 2Add onion and start to cook until softened.

Step 3Add the rice and cook until browned.

Step 4Add the garlic and cook for 30 second more.

Step 5Pour in the chicken broth. Cover tightly and lower heat low/simmer.

Step 6Cooke rice covered for 25 minutes. Remove from heat. Let rice rest for 5 minutes with lid on.

Step 7Sprinkle with parsley or cilantro and fluff with a fork.
