microwave rice
I can't remember for sure where I got this recipe, but I've had it for over 20 years. Just use the old-fashioned, inexpensive rice and save money. It's no more effort than using the expensive 'instant' rice.

Ingredients
- 1 cup regular rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
How To Make microwave rice

Step 1Put all ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl. Allow room for expansion.

Step 2Cover with wax paper or a vented lid.

Step 3Microwave at full power for 5 minutes. Fluff with fork.

Step 4Microwave at 50 percent power for 15 minutes. Fluff with fork.

Step 5Use this in any manner that you would use 'instant' rice.
