Mama's Easy Mexican Rice

I was experimenting a month ago on this recipe and finally got it right. My husband is a very picky eater, and well, he loved it and so did I.

This recipe is quick and easy to make.

  • 1 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1 c
    long grain rice (rinsed)
  • 2 1/2 c
    cold water
  • 1/2 large
    yellow onion
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 2 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 8 oz
    tomato sauce

How to Make Mama's Easy Mexican Rice


  1. Make sure you rinse the rice & drain the excess water.
  2. Heat oil in a big skillet under medium heat.
  3. Add rice in skillet and lightly brown the rice.
  4. After rice has been lightly browned, add water & rest of the ingredients.
  5. Make sure you stir all the ingredients after adding.
  6. Bring to a boil for a minute
  7. Cover & Simmer til tender
  8. Cooks within 15-20 minutes til tender.
  9. Stir every 8 minutes to mix the ingredients together.
  10. Enjoy!!!!
