mama's easy mexican rice
I was experimenting a month ago on this recipe and finally got it right. My husband is a very picky eater, and well, he loved it and so did I. This recipe is quick and easy to make.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup long grain rice (rinsed)
- 2 1/2 cups cold water
- 1/2 large yellow onion
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
How To Make mama's easy mexican rice

Step 1Make sure you rinse the rice & drain the excess water.

Step 2Heat oil in a big skillet under medium heat.

Step 3Add rice in skillet and lightly brown the rice.

Step 4After rice has been lightly browned, add water & rest of the ingredients.

Step 5Make sure you stir all the ingredients after adding.

Step 6Bring to a boil for a minute

Step 7Cover & Simmer til tender

Step 8Cooks within 15-20 minutes til tender.

Step 9Stir every 8 minutes to mix the ingredients together.
