Ingredients
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
- 1/2 cup canned tomatoes with green chilies
- 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 cups water
- 2-3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
How To Make lone star rice

Step 1In a skillet, sauté the onion and green pepper in oil for about 2 minutes.

Step 2Add the rice and stir until coated with oil.

Step 3Add the tomatoes, turmeric, cumin, salt, garlic powder and water, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer about 20 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.

Step 4Stir in fresh chopped cilantro, and serve.
