I love rice. Any kind of rice. This recipe, with all of the Italian style seasonings, is just delicious. I like to serve this with a good roasted chicken,

  • 1 stick
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable or canola oil
  • 1-2 slice
    bacon, crumbled
  • 1 small
    onion, diced
  • 3 c
    hot chicken broth
  • 2 c
    cooked peas
  • 1-1/2 c
    uncooked long grain rice (i use uncle ben's converted rice -- do not use minute rice)
  • 4 Tbsp
    grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 tsp
    italian seasoning

How to Make Italian Rice


  1. In a nonstick skillet, melt butter. Add oil and bacon. Brown onion in the mixture.
  2. Add broth and peas, cook for 3 minutes.
  3. Add rice and all seasonings, and cook on low, covered, until rice is cooked entirely, about 25-30 minutes.
  4. Add Parmesan cheese, and mix thoroughly.
